The first one is very similiar to Aechmea fasciata - urn plant (and may be) but I have one of those and this plants leaves are short and fat.
Second one is short and fat also and the inside of the leaves in the vase are red. (fourth pic.)
Can anyone ID these?
The first plant is indeed Ae. Fasciata, there are several cultivars of this plant although this one seems to have some "quilling" going on which leads to slightly misshapen inner leaves. The spineless cv. is "Primera".
The second plant appears to be Bil. pyramidalis although I won't stake my life on it unltil we see a bloom. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/80714/

I also read that those Broms that do not have sufficient light "stretch" to reach the light. Possibly the shorter one had more sufficient lighting when growing.
