I'd like to plan a fall trade for a few rooted thorn-less blackberry divisions. Please take a look at my trade list. I'm also willing to send postage if I don't have anything of interest to you.
Hoping to hear from you
CLOSED: Blackberry plants (thornless preferred)
dsrtgdn, I have a couple of volunteer seedlings from my 'Chester' Thornless Blackberry I can send for any of your irises. Not exactly sure how many seedlings there are as I just happened to notice several the other day, but I'm sure I can spare at least 2.
Excellent. I see you're in GA. How late can you wait to dig them? Is October too late? Irises would be perfect for me, which are your preferences?
Blackberries grow so prolifically that I could dig them up now. They will look wilty for a couple of days, but if planted and kept watered, they will spring back.
I also read online that if you bend the tip of a branch to the ground and cover it with soil, leaves and mulch, etc. you can sprout new growth. The roots are also easily propagated, as well. Dig up a root, cut off several pieces and replant.
I'd like any of these three: Mountain Melody, Edith Woford, and Joyce Terry. If you like Irises, I have a few listed on my Have List. The only ones I can't share right now are the Red Rooster and Unstable Gene as there isn't enough yet.
JoAnn
Hi JoAnn,
I can't count on anything surviving planting in August here. Temps are in the 100's daily.
Can we plan for late September? Can we trade 1:1? A rhizome for a well rooted division?
Thank you for considering the trade
Chris
Sounds good to me, September or even October. 1:1 is good.
