PLANT ID

Athens, TX

Can anyone identify this plant? I've had it for 15 years. Last year was the first year that I brought it in. Usually I break off some babies and start all ove again each spring. I thought it might be in the jew family but apparently not.

It looks like some kind of tropical plant, like a bromeliad. Does it ever flower?

It reminds me of a bromeliad also.

Welcome to dg!

And I'll second the welcome and the ID. It is a pretty plant, similar to a bromeliad.

Have you ever had yours bloom? It is very tall lanky blooms but wonderfully fragrant. Kristi

It has never bloomed...and I have had it many years. It can take a lot of neglect. It just keeps growing. Oh, and no odor

bubbles......, by george, I think you've got it!..I pulled up images of Callisia and it appears to match. Thanks so much...

Yours may not bloom as you take cuttings to overwinter. It is usually an older plant that blooms. The blooms smell great which is where the 'fragrans' in the Callisa fragrans name.

You're very welcome, Sandy.....and I'm a Sandi too!
