Nyiragongo is stunning, I've been feasting my eyes on this one!

Hi
I can ask the owner (my sister-in-law) if she still grows this one and if she would sell you a clump or a few fans if you like?

Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks Sandy, you bet I'm interested. I was looking for a very fragrant, deep rose cultivar that was short (12-16") with an extended bloom. I've been searching everyplace I can find. I've been pouring over all the registered Daylilies on AHS, determined to get what I wanted.

Every now and then a real beauty would totally distract me. Nyiragongo was one of those, not even remotely close to my search...

I believe something is terribly wrong with me!

it is Lovely! i just recieved a similar cultivar thats an historic one from C. P. Connell of Tennessee called 'Marse Connell'.i hope to get some killer pics of it.. if it blooms for us this Summer. 'Brown Witch' by Reed of Virginia is Similar too and bloomed for us last year also a killer Beauty.

Yes they both are very similar, I'm hoping for those killer pics too. May you be blessed with multiple beautiful blooms this summer.

Heres our 'BROWN WITCH' by Reed..i understand They just released 'Sand Witch' 2014. I'ts a Unique Sand tan color. im waiting for the price to come down as as a 2014 intro it's more than id like to spend currently.. that one is right up me and DaylilySLP's Style however as it shares our name and 'Grey Witch' is probably my all time favorite daylily on the property. I also don't really need it 'Sand Witch' as it has short 34'' scapes and i just got 'Peanut Butter frenzy' from Ogden Station thats supposed to have nice 48'' tall scapes.

She's beautiful TMM...I can't/won't afford to pay the new introduction prices but I can salivate and hope. Some of them sure are expensive. 'Grey Witch' sure is interesting, quite a different color. Reed has some pretty nice spiders. I loved a few of them. Thanks for sharing!

Some of the Plants i get the most enjoyment out of, and glow the most here on the property, are lesser expensive ones or unknown cultivar noids. Being the newest and most expensive doesnt always mean the best or hardiest.and fact they usually arent as older heirloom ones are usually always hardier and more resilient..and even for perfectionists that like to label and know what they all are, to display them, like myself.. in the end during bloomtime they dont have to have a name or tag to bring enjoyment to those who drive by, and even to bring joy devoted connesieurs like ourself.

Space doesn't allow me to be a connoisseur, just plenty appreciative and plenty hopeful. Because my garden is small, I feel I have to be more selective than the average gardener. I'm grateful for the opportunity to peruse garden specimens and live vicariously through others (like yourself).

I only have 'Elegant Candy', Siloam 'Double Classic' and 'Ruby Stella'. I also bought Stella D'Oro last year when I bought 'Ruby' but an elderly friend needed that little reliable bloomer more than myself. I figured I could let it grow a few years and will be able to steal a fan or two then.

Thanks for perspective about the noids/unknown cultivars and the oldie goldies. You're right, the inexpensive ones are just as loved for their own characteristics.

the plants we have are in my garden journal on my page..those we have we also have to cram them onto the front yard, sides of driveway and backyard so space is an issue for us too as stuff multiplies. im the youngest of 5 and my parents were not wealthy money wise but always made sure we had before they did and so wealthy in a home of love and genuineness, but what little my mom had in terms of flowers always glowed as it was a reflection of her and her hard work and kind gentle soul. see if there is something you want in my journal and when i divide it ill send it to You.

I have Marse Connell, I may have a large enough clump to divide this year.
Also My sister-in-law may still grow Brown Witch.

Geesh, don't be offering, I'm not good at saying no...lol! I mean, thanks so much to you both, that's so generous!

Ha ha TMM, if I had a larger plot for gardening, it would probably still get too small and I'd be in the same boat before too long. I didn't think about that. Space is probably an issue with most gardeners.

There's nothing quite like building a prized collection, no matter how small, inexpensive or how long it takes. It's just really satisfying to nurture and enjoy the perfection up close and personal. I love that DG is loaded with like minded individuals. The thing is, I like to share as much as I like to receive. You'll both have to see what I have to offer in return.

DaylilySLP, does your sister sell Daylilies, I'd love to check out her stock if I may?
