These Esperanzas always grow 6 to 8 feet tall every year even when we chop them to the ground. Yet the one behind our pool is always a civil 3 feet.
Are there different varieties of this plant?
Esperanza Question.........
Mayan Gold says 24" to 36", Gold Star say 36" to 48" ht, answer yes, diff cultivars diff hts
Wow......who knew!!!
Who Knew indeed I don't even know what an esperanza is>>
My Esperanza was one of the few bloomers that produced through last year's drought. I had never seen the orange colored cultivar though. Pretty!
Grits, esperanza is also known as yellow bells.
If anyone needs any seeds, I have lots of seeds to share! Krispi
TECOMA STANS - BEAUTIFUL PLANT !
Krispi - could I pls get somE seeds ?
TIA
Krispi; Are they orange or yellow? I would love some orange seed, I don't think I've ever seen an orange one.
Some of my orange ones have pods.....I could save them if you D-Mail me your info.
I also have orange or yellow if anyone needs them.
Grits- I honestly haven't seen any in Dallas or north, down in Houston they are considered xeriscapers, in your area I believe they grow scotch broom instead, also a beautiful plant,
Hey guys, mine are the yellow ones, or yellow belles. The orange ones have never done well in my plantings. Which did not matter, as the orange is not bright like the yellow ones. Mine were a dull rust color.
We would have to see how many var of the orange there are, chuckl
As a general rule I dont care for yellow
flowers, but esperanza is the exception to
the rile ! THey are a beautiful brilliant
rich yellow .
Anyone know what bitterflies of birds
enhoy them ? or bees ?
These are one of those "childhood memory "
plants we played wirh as little girks but
I cant remmember what ctirrets they
attracted, but I know they did....
I never thought about growing them here in N tx
although more south they are everywhere- because I
thought thet wouls not stand the cold
but if you look up "tecoma stans ",
the zip codes hown several entries from the metroplex
and further north.
With this past winter, they would not even have frozen back!
Last fall when so much died or burned, the Esperanza and my basils were attracting bees from apparently everywhere! I have seen no flutterbys attracted, but I figured it was the lateness of the blooms. Yay! I get to go home finally, am so tired of running this year, but I get to see home! And how many tomatoes the squirrels haven't bitten, chuckl
You sure can have some of the seed pods, just dmail me your address, and I will send you some, I do not need any postage. Get with you tomorrow, Krispi
