Several months ago, I got an I.D. of this bird as a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, but I've been doing more research and am now leaning toward it being a Fork-tailed Flycatcher instead. Reasons for my confusion:
I took this photo in Brazil in Dec. I don't see anything about Brazil being in the "scissor" range, but the "Fork" is a full time resident there.
Most of the info on the "scissor" mentions the reddish belly and though it does say the female has "less red", I don't see any with no red.
Scissors photos seem to all show a lighter head, no dark cap like this.
Anyone able to confirm the I.D.? I'd like to add him to Birdfiles, but want to be certain.
Thanks!
CLOSED: Fork versus Scissor tail
Yep, Fork-tailed.
Scissor-tailed is pale grey on its head, not black like that.

Thanks, Resin! :D
