My Birds, Part III

Hello all. Long time, no hear. I've been lurking here and there and doing many other things, but not posting much, but I'm back now and decided to continue this series of "My Birds." I have not been able to do much bird photography so far this year and realized how fast time has past this season. I will start this thread off with the baby Cedar Waxwing. On Sunday, after cycling in the morning, I was sitting in my drive way and noticed something sitting on this branch that had fallen out of the tree in my front yard; we had a terrible storm this past Saturday and there were lots of downed trees, branches etc. I thought it was a leaf, so I walk over to verify and there was this little Cedar Waxwing sitting on the branch. Now, I have never seen a Cedar Waxwing near my house, so this was quite a surprise (thinking the storm may have had something to do with it). Needless to say, I ran in the house to get my gear. I took many photos and then just watch the little one for awhile, then I after awhile I thought it was abandoned, so I did some research just in case I had to rescue the baby bird. I just kept an eye on the little one to make sure no critters would harm it. I saw what appeared to be it's sibling dead in another area, so I was concerned. I went a bit closer and it went on the defensive and began calling out, then I heard another bird calling back and then saw the parents fly into the tree. Needless to say, I was relieved. I went to the store and when I came back the little one was gone, but I still here it's call so I know it's ok and nearby. Well here are some images of the little one.

Oh Met he is adorable! Great shots!

Glad the little one survived the storm. He looks so small and under developed for flight! But he obviously was capable of doing so.

Good to see you posting again,Met. Fantastic shots of the little one and glad it was a good outcome.

What equipment are you using now?

Gee, such a heartwarming story Met. Thanks for sharing these adorable photos and story. I'm so happy to hear the parents were still closeby to feed the little one. I don't recall seeing pictures of waxwings this small so this was a big treat for me.

Thanks everyone. I was glad to see the parents also. For some reason, I've been having an hard time posting. Margaret I am still using the 1D4 and 500mm lens set up; no equipment changes for the near future for me.

It's been good to me and therefore I am content with it. How's your 500?

I haven't used it much, lately, but when I do, I'm always pleased with the results. It's the 7D I'm not all that happy with. It's very noisy.
