That looks very nice Sybil, it is a good thing that they are one day blooms and you will have more tomorrow.

Yes, no big loss. It just looked so strange when I first saw the hibiscus completely naked of blooms and the rosemary right next to it just blooming happily away.

Beautiful, big blooms!

Is this the same plant Linda (smockette) and folks were taking cuttings from at the RU?

Yep, it is. I hope their's are blooming, too. I still think it is just way too big and thick, because it use to get at least 12-15 inches taller, and the stalks were thicker--not as spindly.. My plan is to dig out a lot of it this fall when I cut it back to the ground. Up to now, when I give some to people, I just dig it out around the edges.

I'd love everyone's thoughts on this. Do you think my plan is good for it?

I want to do the same for my elephant ears, too. So many of them are getting brown around the edges, in spite of daily watering. I think they are just way too thick, since I never do anything to them other than trying to mulch before the first freeze. My DH says it's just the triple digits we've had. Of course, trimming out the brown-edged ones are a normal part of keeping the EEs, it seems there's way more than usual this summer.

I dug up and relocated my mealy blue sage last fall. I just cut it into about 4 or 5 sections and potted up the ones I didn't want. I kept a small piece, moved it and it's doing great! I think that would work for you.

That's what I'm going to do, Steph. I'll pot the hibiscus, but what about the EEs. Can I just keep them in straw in the dark?

I be darned, I should have recognized the flower. I got four bushes of hibiscus and they should all be different colors. one sb Red, one Rose of Sharon and one dark brown leaf. (forgot the name) I am looking for my receipts so I can write back and complain. Grrr!
