Feline uremic itching - can it be stopped?

I am looking for suggestions for a topical spray to stop the itching on a cat.

Our old male cat Scraps, was diagnosed with chronic renal failure. The itch is caused by the CRF.

We are hoping to make him comfortable. Any experience or suggestions would be appreciated. Kristi
