lily advice needed

I haven't had much luck with lilies so I need to know a couple of things. How much sun must they have? Can they take about 1/2 shade? The orienpet lilies appeal to me the most.
How do you fertilize them and how often?
My husband would love to see some large old-fashioned tiger lilies too so I have the same questions about them.
I would appreciate any help........Betty

Dear woodspirit1, this link should be of some help,old House Gardens can say it better than I can.Last fall I planted tiger lilies,lilium henryi and citronelle, all from OHG and they are doing beautifully, this company is a little expensive but worth it,theirs are the first tiger lilies I've gotten to bloom and they are amazing,they look like they've been in the ground for years and they just came into bloom a few days ago, also their stems are loaded with bulbils that will fall to the ground and come up next year,do take a look at what they have to say, especially about winter drainage.I hope I've been of some help.

I've had really good luck with a bulb from Brent and Becky's called Robina. It has done really well for me in 1/2 shade.

I just moved from some to shade so I did some research, that stated that Trumpets and Orienpets do well in shade, which I find is true. I have a Silver Sunburst (which originated with Old House Gardens) that is in almost complete shade. It was installed over a year ago, so it is used to being in shade and it is fully budded out.

So I put Anastasia and Regale in shade, and they are very full. Regale, a trumpet and Anastasia, an orienpet, are in shade and are budding very well.

Old House Garden is great, but pricy. There are other wonderful vendors that are highly recommended on Garden Watchdog. I have done business with them as well as OHG and been very pleased.
