spicebush cats

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I have a weed that I did not know its name. This year, it has lots of folded over leaves and upon peeking inside, a spicebush cat looked back at me. So of course I then had to ID the weed. Turns out, it's a camphor tree seedling! That is if I am correct. I'll get a photo tomorrow. It is a rather invasive weed apparently. I'd never heard of a camphor tree.

Have you managed a photo of the tree yet or are you comfortable with your ID?

They were declared invasive in Florida. I don't think they are here. Funny though, because one of the uses for camphor is as an insect repellent!

well, you know how butterflies are about eating poisonous plants so they wont taste good to predators!!!

I didn't know that. Smart little things!

Here are some photos. The plant I think is a camphor tree. I dont know how to take non-fuzzy photos.
