plant suggestions Please

Arlington, TX

I posted this on the pond forum but perhaps someone here has a suggestiong for a small marginal pond plant I can use.

I bought one of those floating planters (looks big in my little pond) and I am experimenting with plants to see if I can make it look ok and keep it. I have a dwarf horsetail in the middle and want some vining plants along the edge that dont mind being wet and will grow over the ugly styrafoam. Something vining with small leaves. I was thinking of moneywort but don't know how it will do in a wet container floating in a pond. Anyone have any ideas? It is pretty intense sun so that has to be a factor and its hot in that pond.

There is a silver falls dicondria and most likely other kinds that can take heat but not sure about the wet.

Cheryl, I have that lemon bacopa (aka water hyssop). It's not exactly vining, but it does spread out. Actually it looks sorta like bolivian jew, now that I think about it. Mine's in blazing hot sun and right about now until fall it blooms little bright blue flowers. Only bad thing I can say about it is, it seems to be attractive to algae, so you have to watch it, but that wouldn't be a huge problem if it's in the planter.

How small are the leaves? I bought some frogbit because the pics of it looked like it had small leaves but it doesn't.

Oh, the leaves are quite small. Less than 1/2 inch. Small, fairly rounded. Here's the Plant Files link: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1259/. I don't think there are any pictures there that do it justice, though. It's quite pretty in bloom. Anyway, if you wanna try it, I'll be glad to bring you a start at the next RU (which will be ALL you want, believe me). Then if it doesn't work out, you can always get rid of it and try something else.
