Could it be from the heat? I harvested enough to make 11 pints of French-style green beans and was hoping to harvest more, but *poof*... Now, instead of getting 75-100 beans a day I'm down to 1 or 2 at the most. There are still a lot of flowers on the plants, but I don't see any beans being created.
My pole beans have stopped producing...
Yes, definitely from the heat. Mine have also stopped producing, but I'm seeing lots of new blooms, so more are on the way. I think they produce in waves.
Thanks, Stephanie!
I was very late in planting my whole garden. I put in 72 pole bean plants, but I haven't harvested as many as I would have had I gotten the stuff planted a month earlier. 27 of those 72 plants have only produced 3 beans so far because I was waiting for the 1015 onions to bulb. When I realized that it would probably be almost June before the onions were ready, I had to re-think where I was going to plant those 27 plants (I had started them in a galvanized container and was waiting - until they got too big to stay in the container! LOL).
Hopefully (but I won't hold my breath) I'll be able to keep the beans alive through the summer (with lots of TLC and maybe some shade cloth!), and I'll be able to harvest more beans towards the fall. That would be nice - better to can in the cooler weather than the heat!
