Potato/Tomato Blight this year??

Harwinton, CT

I was just reading an article in today's paper about potato crops in PA, NJ and Long Island being wiped out by the late blight. They don't expect it to be as severe as two years ago with the tomatoes but are keeping an eye on it. Next week it will be in the 70's, perfect weather for blight. I was wondering if it would help to cover my tomatoes with Remay as a preventative?

Any comments?

Time to start Garden Disease Controll. I will do it as soon as I see that my garden is not stressed by the lack of Nitrogen. Should be a day or 2.

Read the same article.....right now, my toms look very healthy......late blight hits when the toms are on the vine, so I guess that's when I'd spray....or is it too late then?

Hi Robindog!

I sprayed yesterday and removed all of the stems/leaves from the lower 5" of the stem, and sprayed the soil and mulch under the plants. I remove the lower stems/leaves of my roses too to combat black spot.

How's the gardening going in Thomaston? Everything's a couple of weeks late here and my eggplants are just sulking from the dull weather.

My peppers are not growing well......I haven't grown eggplant in a few years because I never got more than 2 or 3.....flowers are happy, happy!
