October 25 (Winter)

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

BRRRRRRRRRR. It's nasty out today. There is a wind that is gusting to almost 60 mph in some places. And the weatherman is using the dreaded "W" word. WIND CHILL!!! There was a -6 wind chill this morning. All the little kids at school today came with winter coats. (Well, almost all of them.) I guess I shouldn't complain. Grand Forks, ND had a blizzard yesterday. About a foot of snow. I can take the cold and I can take the snow, but I hate the blasted wind.
I was going to go to dads today and pick more apples for him to dry, but they might be all on the ground. Found the apple picker in the machine shed and DH had to do a little fixing on it last night.
We hauled bales home after work and we should do more tonight. The weekend sounds like it will be nice, so maybe we will do it then. We should also be fixing some fence so the cattle can go out in the corn stalks. Last year one kept getting out all the time and I had a mad dash after school every day trying to get it in. I hope they find the hole because I never did.
Well, it think it's time for me to find the custodian and have him cover my air conditioner. I don't think I will be needing it any more this year.
Have a good one, folks.
Ruth
