Well, it has a correct name… and it sure does not look or feel like any Yucca aloifolia that I have ever dealt with, so I am guessing that it is not a synonym, but an incorrect identification that has been corrected.

In looking for photos of Yucca aloifolia 'Purpurea' all that comes up are similar to mine. And most sites seem to think the names are interchangeable.

Here is one that calls it -
Yucca aloifolia 'Blue Boy'
ALSO KNOWN AS:

YUCCA ALOIFOLIA 'PURPUREA'

Another grower Yucca Purpurea aloifolia ‘Purpurea’ http://www.flowersensation.it/prodotto.php?IDP=811

The other 2 photos on PlantFiles with mine are similar to mine.

Are you familiar with Yucca aloifolia 'Purpurea' or just Yucca aloifolia?

I have a feeling that this plant was misnamed a long time ago, and unfortunately that means it will keep coming up in searches for a long time to come. Once something gets misnamed in the nursery world, it's stuck there for life… just search for Kalanchoe thyrsiflora, and you will get plenty of hits for K luciae… though not sure if any will claim it's a synonym. Synonyms are often another way of saying 'the wrong name, but it's too late to erase it now, so we'll call it a synonym from now on').

I have no clue. But I can't find a photo of YUCCA ALOIFOLIA 'PURPUREA' that looks different.

I wonder if Yucca aloifolia 'Purpurea' and Yucca aloifolia 'Blue Boy' and Yucca dismetiana ‘Blue Boy’ are really all the same plant and should be moved together.

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

yes they should be... that first plant site you sited is a really nice one... will have to spend more time there. Plantlust is a funky name, but has lots of nice photos. And that opening photo of the plants on the other site is amazing... looks like a gazillion plants.
