Bug ID Please

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Found this on my okra last night eating one of the ladybugs that's been hanging out in my garden. I've not seen this before. Any ideas?

It looks like a young harlequin bug, but probably not it looks slimmer

I wonder if it is one of the instar stages of a shield bug, stink bug

It could be, I am not sure what it is.

Stephanie, I'm almost positive that is one of the Assassin bugs. Order Hemiptera

Careyana, I think that's it! Nice to know it's a "good" bug, but it was eating another good bug!

Well if you don't want him, I'd be happy to take him. He'd find plenty to snack on in my yard! :)

I'll keep him! Maybe I can relocate him to the flower bed or the tomatoes.

They are like crickets- they eat bugs, good and bad isn't one of the criteria

I agree it is one of the assassin bugs. I don't like them in my yard simply because they eat my butterfly caterpillars.

Well! They need to have a more discriminating palate!

Wow! I'm so glad I came across this. I also have these buggies and was thinking they are assassins and now I know they are. I can relax and let them feed! They seem to like my cucs alot.
AND, I'm so excited! I just made my first ever cantaloupe! It's in the frig and tomorrow I'll find out if it's any good. Yum! Janet

Sometimes it's nice to find good bugs in the yard. Unfortunately, I haven't been that lucky!

Janet, I hope that cantaloupe is as good as it sounds! :)
