why thank you! i almost didn't post this picture...such a scoffed at plant most of the time. i love mine and keep them potted so they don't escape. this particular pot stays outside year round. i threw a light blanket over it two winters ago when our temps were well below freezing....17 degrees for several nights.

Oh I dream about being able to grow Sans outside! I've been a collector for years. Had to leave many plants behind when I left Maine to return to the UK. I just love these plants and it's lovely to see one that's so well grown as your beautiful specimen.

Wow, very nice! I didn't know they even had a bloom until I saw one blooming at Walmart, of all places, so I bought it. That was a couple years ago, and it never bloomed again!

years ago my mother-in-law (for real) gave me a tiny one in a beer stein, no drain holes, just a handful of dirt from her yard thrown in. i put it on my north-facing bathroom windowsill (this was in st.louis, missouri) and there it sat for about five yrs. the growth was minimal, if at all, and the bathroom was really cold in winter.....and then one early spring i started smelling something really sweet in there. at first i just thought it was a new soap or lotion my daughter was trying out and then one day about a week later i was cleaning and went to wipe off the sill. it was all sticky and there was this beautiful big spike with drippy flowers. i was astounded! lol of course, i didn't know anything about plants then, didn't even know what it was, so i just kept the memory to myself.
many years later when we moved to the florida keys, our whole dirt road was lined with them on either side and the first spring i lived there, they all bloomed beautifully and i remembered that poor little plant on the windowsill.

you are too kind.....
i'm adding more pictures to pf today. i just put this one in but it probably won't show up yet. the plant shown above is about 3.5 feet tall. the one i'm posting here is just a tad over 5' now and busting out of the pot.

i can't give you any advice as far as blooming....it is an erratic plant with a mind of its own. lol
