I want to do refridgerator pickles when my cucumbers produce this year. But I didn't plant any pickling types. I have Burpless, Straight Eight, Marketmore, Salad Bush, Armenian and China Long. Can other types besides pickling types be pickled? I really don't want to plant more cucumbers!
I plan on using the Mrs Waggies refridgerator pickles mixes. Doing it the easy way! Never done it before.
I have no pickling pickles.
As far as I know, any type of cucumber can be pickled- I have done several types in the past, but don't now since we have cut down on sugar consumption.
Concur, any type can be pickled. If you want the small whole pickles at less than two inches in length, you really need a pickling type as the larger types don't yield baby cukes as fast. For sliced length wise pickles the larger ones work ok. China long makes excellent bread and butter type pickles. Biggest difference, the white spine types which includes most slicers have a higher water content and are not as solid.
weong thread lol sorry

Farmerdill, thanks. I don't need whole small pickles. In fact I prefer sliced pickles. Now I know I can try for pickles this summer. I have so many cucumbers planted and I always have way more than I know what to do with!
