Found this guy chowing down on my green bean leaves. Any ids?
Anyone Recognize this Caterpillar?
Don't know what it is Stephanie. If you cage it and feed it the leaves, it may be a butterfly. This list is butterflies that use garden beans as host plants; but moths use numerous plants.
Gray Hairstreak (Strymon melinus)
Cassius Blue (Leptotes cassius)
Dorantes Longtail (Urbanus dorantes)
Long-Tailed Skipper (Urbanus proteus)
Silver Spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus)
Dale may see this and id it too.
I've raised the last four on your list and it's not any of those. Interesting looking cat, though.
Melanie
i've been researching this, and it is not a Gray Hairstreak. Must be a moth of some kind.
Looks like a moth cat to me. Blues and hairstreak cats don't have all that long fuzz and the skippers are usually smooth. Might be a wooly bear in the making? Guess that means you get to raise it!!!
