I have bushels of achocha seeds to trade. This is one of the fabled 'Lost Crops' of the Incas. (You pronounce it like a long sneeze... 'a-sho....sha!').
It looks like a small green cucumber, four inches long at most, with small bristles and tastes like a sweet green pepper.
It's fabulous as a wall-cover plant, quickly sending up tall climbing feathery fronds 14 foot or more over everything. It grows well in my UK Zone 8 climate, if planted just like tomatoes - ie. after the last frost date, and in any rich soil, well watered.
Would anyone like to trade for them?
I'd take in exchange any heirloom tomatoes or beans (or indeed, other vegetable), that are not easily available in the UK.
Meanwhile, could anyone give me a good recipe for achocha?
They're fine in salads, marinated in vinaigrette for a few hours beforehand like peppers; or stir fried. But I've done all that, and I have a lot of them - so any diverse and exotic recipes would be welcome!

Anyone have recipes - or trades - for achocha?
Hi John,
I like to try these. Please take a look at my page for a trade. They maybe good on pizza? LMK.
Penny
Hi Penny
Yes, Achocha should be very good on pizza. (I'll rush outside, cut a few and try that idea at once.) Just treat them like a sweet green pepper, in any recipe.
But they're a lot easier to grow than peppers, especially in iffy climates (like mine) outdoors.
I'll look at your trade list, forthwith.
Best

You've got mail John!
; )
How were they on pizza???
Penny
Excellent!
But they'd be best marinated overnight in eg. vinaigrette or a chili sauce, if you're a pizza afficionado, I think.
JOHN
John,
Would still like to trade for some. Have you had a change to look at my list?
