Good morning all! It's a beautiful morning but the cold that Ruth describes is headed this way today. It's also supposed to be very windy. DD was home the past four days for fall break. She spent most of the time studying but it was nice to eat lunch with her, etc.
Kathleen - your wayward heifer stories sound so familiar. Two years ago I received a call that one of our cows was on the highway at 7:30 a.m. (busiest time of the day). I called another neighbor to come help me and then did my best to keep her off the highway. DD called me from school and said she had received "reports" that her mom was on the highway talking to the cows. She thought this was quite funny! I wasn't very amused.
Our butcher called today and he wanted to buy a couple of lambs. We took the last batch to the sale barn on Monday. He was kicking himself because he should have called us last week. That's the way it goes - I would rather sell them direct than through the sale barn.
We turned the sheep out into the corn stocks. They are so goofy - they run out there and eat for a few minutes and then run back into barn. They seem to do this a few times before they decide to stay out in the field. I wonder how long it will be before somebody decides to drive through the fence.
Better go - you all have a great day!
