I have 3 of these plants that I'm not sure if I got at RU a year ago or was gifted with the seed. Whatever, I don't know what it is. The butterflies love it. The blooms are over 6 feet off the ground ! There are purple old-fashioned petunias mixed in the photo but I am asking about the plant that has blooms on a very long stem. LEW calls it the rocket plant because it grew so fast and so tall. The second photo is of the foliage which seems to always look unhealthy but continues to live.

Thanks,
Glenna

This plant I have absolutely no idea where it came from. It was just a complete surprise when it started a couple months ago. It must have hitched a ride with some plant I got at RU. It appears to be forming a bloom of some type and is as tall as the fence.

The first plant is Verbena bonariensis very good for butterfly nectar but not native to Texas.
The second one looks like Verbascum thapsus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verbascum_thapsus
also not native but medicinal.

That look like that new Lambs Ear that came out some time ago. Its really huge and grows very tall. Whatever it is I love it.
