This morning as I was drinking my coffee, looking out into the semi-dark patio, a familiar figure jumps up to the table beside the patio door. A chachalaca looks in at me like it always does when it wants a treat. This time she's early. I get a wheat bisquit and go out. She's gone. But I call her by clicking my tongue on the roof of my mouth (don't know why it works but it does) and she came flying back to me. I separated the soft bisquit into two halves and dropped it at her feet. I went back inside and after a while I went back outside to freshen the water stations. She was feeding two baby chachalacas! These appear to be a day old. What a treat she gave ME this morning!!
Baby Chachalacas in backyard
How beautiful they all are. The chicks are absolutely adorable.
How lucky you are to see the sweet little ones besides the parent. Love the photos. She sounds quite spoiled!
Great visitors your having Fauther! The chicks are adorable!
Yesterday afternoon a third chick emerged! I hope they fare well. Last year we lost one out of two to unknown causes. It just wasn't there one day. All three chicks are doing just fine as of this morning.
That's so wonderful. Love them! Thanks for sharing.
