I have a couple of irises in different places in my yard, but none have bloomed in the past couple of years. Also, I have a Dutch iris that I've had for several years and it's never bloomed. The all look great, but don't flower. Any ideas what I need to do to encourage them to bloom? One I know is probably in too much shade.
Iris Not Blooming
That seems to be a common complaint this year , my sis in Conroe called recently with the same story and I gave here the usual advice IE: sun/shade too deep and every thing I could come up with but whatever it is it is too late to correct for this year,My nurseryman frien said the biggest cause is a lack of phosphorus when a plant has bloomed before in the same location and nothing else has changed...without a soil test this is all just guesswork..
I posted on here a while back about one of my Dutch Iris that was blooming and somebody wanted a start but I forgot who and which thread it was in ...So if you read this let me know and we wiil get you a start ASAP..
My Tarleton irises did not bloom this year either. First time they've ever failed. Most of the others in that bed did bloom, so I'm just wondering if maybe some have been affected by the weird weather in the last year.
I have a Japanese iris (ensata) that has spread and spread but never bloomed, ever. It needs to be moved out of my walkway and into more sun. But I don't know when is the best time to dig them. Can anyone help?
Hmmmm....I seldom fertilize that bed. Maybe I'll move them to a sunnier place and give them some fertilizer.
