Lady Margaret bloomed along with Passiflora trifasciata Tri-color. I also think I'm seeing some embryo buds on the X allardii!
First Passies of the Season!
Sure is exciting to see that first flower. I have 2 I am waiting on fidlermouse and Antashsia spelled that one wrong I am looking for Sherry and Crimson tears these are like potato chips
I have another I'm impatiently waiting for .. a NOID that I received some cuttings from a friend .. the whiskers are sky blue .. there has been this one bud that keep getting bigger and bigger and I keep thinking "tomorrow". When I did my walkabout this morning it still hasn't opened! Maybe tomorrow? Lol! I had the dickens of a time getting the cuttings to root and only one made it. The leaves are very similar to the X allardii.
I just cut p. Constance and root a few extra plants 100% pearlite works great for me watered once a day Fildermouse is just starting to crawl pretty good your idea for cheap trellis was great I found for these I use white wire shelving I nail to a 10 ft 2x4 leave a couple feet to bury here I put concrete never know when a storms going to blow. Works very good doesn't look bad either I have a hawaiian sunset bud I have been watching for a week they get huge crazy all that for one day !
It reminds me of Passiflora caerulea, a cultivar, or a relation...there are quite a few that look rather similar http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/b/Passifloraceae/Passiflora/caerulea/cultivar/0/
It's always so fun when mystery plants bloom!
I thought the same thing very pretty
Thanks Sunny, it looks just like the Blue Crown.
:-)
That is pretty but your whiskers are purple and mine are blue.
*looks around sheepishly* That one little detail slipped my mind, so sorry. Got so excited, thought I actually may be able to help ID a flower.
Lol .. not to worry easy mistake to make .. is yours self pollinating? I thought mine might be since the spent flower stayed on for almost a week. I'll hand pollinate the next one to open and keep my fingers crossed. It might be interesting to cross pollinate - I'd love to get alternating colors of blue and purple on the whiskers .. wouldn't that be awesome?
That would be great! I am not sure how to tell if they are self pollinating. I just bought this one about a month ago, the first time I have seen them in nurseries up here so I hurried up and grabbed it. I know that the flowers when they close have been staying on the vine not dying off, so maybe it is? I'd be more than happy to send you a cutting if you would like to try :)
Maybe later on in the season .. mine needs to grow a bit more before I start cutting on it!
Lol, mine is huge. You really don't have to send me any cuttings ;) Maybe keep me in mind when you can get cuttings from the Lady Margret and I would be happy with that. If you D-mail me your address, I will be more than happy to send you some nice sized cuttings from this one. Really, no cuttings in exchange necessary.
