Toona Sinensis (edible tree)

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

The plant is really putting on some nice growth. It is about four feet tall with a three foot spread. I steamed the leaves with Okinawa Spinach and Tree Collards last night. It infused everything with a nice garlic taste. The tender young leaves were very tasty with good texture but the older larger leaves were too tough. I suspect they older leaves will be better used like a Bay Leaf and not eaten. However, I will try to boil them.
