Does anyone have any ideas what I should do with a small cowbird I found lying on my suburban lawn. I see no signs of injury and it has survived the night in a cardboard box.
What do they eat? Should I just put it back on the lawn and hope the parents will intervene?
Juvenile Black Headed Cowbird Found
Cowbirds do not raise their own. They lay eggs in other birds nests. Cardinals and Chipping Sparrows are popular choices where I live.

Thank you for your response.
In the am I checked on the bird and it was still alive. Later I checked again, and when I opened the box the bird flew out. I guess it was just stunned and needed recoup time. Maybe it flew into a hard surface. Problem solved.
Glad it worked out.
