Somrthings wrong with my Turks Cap

Mcallen, TX

I don't know what is happening to my Turks Caps, this started about a month ago on plants that are fairly distance from each other in separate "rooms". The surface of the foliage looks like when you sprinkle droplets of baking soda mixed with water on a car battery. The underside of these "bubbles" are concave. These are well established plants. I've never seen anything like this. Does anyone know what I should do to stop this?

Looks like a form of gall. Is it spreading quickly, or pretty much stayed the same amount of damage over the last month?

Mcallen, TX

It's spreading quickly. We've had recent HEAVY rains in the last couple of months. One of the rains flooded the whole neighborhood and the entire yard was under water for about 8 hrs. Should I trim off the affected foliage?

Ok, I've looked some things up. It's a possibility, since turks caps is in the hibiscus family, that it could be Hibiscus Erineum Mites.

Don't panic, yet. I'm just looking around, till an expert shows up :0)
I'll keep looking for more suggestions...mites are not common in my part of the state.

Not Hibiscus Erineum Mites.

I found this interesting article on galls..I didn't realize so many different insects caused them.

Ok, it looks like my plants will survive the galls. I'll try to control future outbreaks by trimming off affected areas and minimizing the propagation of mites. I'm relieved. We've been here since '73 and we've always had and enjoyed ourTurks Caps. I would hate to lose them. Thanks, Cocoa!!!

It sure looks like galls, I would cut them off and destroy those leaves.
