Trellis/ Arbor suggestions

Central Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm wanting to build a cheap arbor/ trellis for my loofa gourds. Might any of you all have suggestions? I was thinking of something about 7' tall x 4' wide x 16' long. I read electric conduit is pretty cheap, but I'm not sure if it would be strong enough. Could I drive that stuff in the ground?

We use conduit for our tomato cages and it works well. Easy to drive into the ground, if it's been dampened, with a mallet. You could always use cattle panels.

Thanks Stephanie! I've never used it before so I thought I would ask here.

Cattle panels are easily found at Lowe's or Home Depot or a feed store such as Tractor Supply. Be sure to get the t-posts to hang them on. They aren't 7' tall but the vines can always hang over the top.

I like the cattle panel ideal a lot. Only problem is we have a SUV so I'm unsure how I'll transport them.

Thanks for your help.

Or maybe I could cut them into pieces at the store? Then fit the sections into my vehicle.

Tie them to the top.

Yes, I could put a comforter across there. I looked them up. They are pretty cheap, about $20 for a 4' x 16' panel at Tractor Supply.

On the vines and climbers page, Xeranthemum found something called masonry ladder that she thot would make a good cheap trellis. Check it out.

I'll check it out, Thanks.
