I have a pot and want to make an outdoor mini garden.
I want a fountain and patio and some shrubs and trees and I'll go from there.
It will sit outside in the sun for part of the day.
Any beginner thoughts appreciated!

Where to Begin?
Did you check out the resource thread at the top of this forum? great online stores to get ideas
Also this is a great idea and has a step by step instructions

I checked out the usual companies I buy from and did a search by miniature or dwarf most don't use the term fairy...but got a good variety of dwarf plants from Bluestone
I got some very inexpensive miniatures from here http://factorydirectcraft.com/index.php
You can also find miniatures by the dollhouse things in a craft store
Bought my buildings from plow and hearth(just wait for them to go on sale)

haighr, I wrote an article for DG in February: "Miniature Container Gardens . . ." [ http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/3573/ ], that may help get you started. There are links to sites and a few videos.
Have fun!

Thanks. I did check out the links (lol, after I posted)! I will continue to read a bit and then get to work. I also want to conquer the sand casting of one of my rhubarb leaves. I love being retired and having the time to take on new things.
Best wishes for your tiny gardens and be sure to post pics when your finished!
I surely will, thanks!
