Yes, I miss my foul-smelling carnivorous plant. It had spread out beautifully over the years, emitting a pungent carrion odor, attracting flies to its sticky, deadly center. This past winters unusual freeze in the Rio Grande Valley was too much for it to endure. The flies? They stick their tongues out at me and high-five each other. I gotta get me another Carrion plant!
Carnivorous Plant R.I.P.
We are inadated (sp) w/big flies this yr. My friend has one. Will try to get us both a piece of it!!! Funny but we were just discussing the flies & her plant tonite!!!
:~)
A neighbor(don't know them) has one in a large concrete urn, If you're not successful, I;ll try to get us a couple of pieces.
10-4, good buddy!!!
Yes, I used to drive a semi!!! lol
:~)
Gee sounds like something I need to track down too. We have a gazillion green bottle flies this year so many so that my pitcher plants are filling up with flies and falling over!
Hmm, that is some kind of Stapelia and they are not carnivores? They only smell like carrion to attract fly pollinators, not eat them. Am I wrong about the ID? If it's really a carnivorous plant I want one.

Me too!
Me too!
Although, won't dh love me when I put something that smelly in the garage for the winter? LOL.
Talking about Fly problems, is it all over Texas? I got an infestation coming from under the house and through the AC vent on the floor. I am still working on the pantry flies!I hope nothing dead under there. The exterminator is coming tomorrow. Outside is so scary, I am afraid to open to open the door! In the front the Passion vine has to go! Something is eating the heck out of it ... and ... the neighbors hate it! Whats a girl to do?
That sure looks like a stapeliad to me!
If it does attract flies and kill them, that would be phenomenal! I'd be happy to share my overlarge stapeliad if that's the case. I can't seem to make it bloom anyway!
