I have had Creamsicle for 2 years. It doesn't seem to grow well and at one time it had little spider webs, so I suppose spider mites.
Have others found this to be a hard brug to grow? Any advise?
creamsicle
lovely. I will take your advise about creamsicle. It is a lovely peach & white so I wanted it, but not so much anymore.
Creamsickle is one of my favorites. I love the size of the blooms and the baby powder fragrance. For some reason, here in Central Texas, her flowers remained a creamy white. One or two of her flushes turned slightly apricot.
I didn't find it any harder to grow than other Brugs nor any "buggier", but I did discover that it prefers to be a little drier than most other Brugs. You didn't mention how you are growing it. So it's difficult to make any recommendations. Is it growing in the ground or in a pot? If in a pot, how large a pot? How long since you transplanted it or replaced the growing medium? I have no choice but to use Miracle Grow potting mix, but alone it retains too much water so I add generous amounts of perlite — about a 5-gal sized can of perlite for every 2-1/2 cubic foot bag. When it is growing actively, how often do you fertilize? How much sunlight is it getting?
This is what my Creamsickle looked like in bloom:
Sadly, I lost her to heat, drought and lack of humdity last year.
It is the second year I've tried cuttings. It has been in the greenhouse with all the other cuttings. None of them have had spider mites except creamsicle. I think putting it outside would help but it's a bit puny compared to all the others. I grow them all alike in a base of Black Kow, bone meal and potting mix, after they root in water.
'Creamsickle' is one of my favourites, also. I would find a way to get rid of the mites.
The one I have trouble with is Wretched Mess............it doesn't bloom for me outside during the summer, but it blooms in the winter when it is in the greenhouse. Perhaps too hot outside. I"m thinking of ditching it, but then it blooms and I give it a reprive.
Creamsickle always has such lovely blooms for me. And it isn't any "buggier" than any of the others.
