Earthworms Vs. pesticides

Like everyone I am just in the beginning stages for insect control for this year ,and have been singing the praises of the Spectracide "one and done" as a soil treatment ..A friend called and ask if I thought the one and done would kill the earthworms and that got me to pondering whether it would or would not..so I devised a little test I took a 5 gallon bucket with small holes drilled in the bottom added a shovel full of compost then added 24 worms and covered with an additional shovel of compost on top of this I sprinkled some one and done watered and covered with a board..Then sat all on the concrete driveway after 3 full days I checked by dumping the whole thing on the driveway all the worms were present ...Relaced the entire Exp. back into the bucket and will add another cup of the pesticide and check again in 3 more days ...

After one full week all of the worms are still alive and this is at 4X the normal dosage..

That is good to know but those pesticides just scare me. The only one I use is a "brush killer" for Poison Ivy because I'm highly allergic and haven't found anything organic that will kill it down through the roots.

I do agree about the insecticides for the most part but there is not anyway that I can see to control the Blister Beetles which is the worst pest I can possably imagine... Certainly not about hand pick any of those if one gets mashed on your skin it is about like a nasty spider bite
