Is there a Phlox that thrives in Texas heat?

Does anyone grow perennial Phlox? Does it take our heat?

Phlox pilosa! I have it where it gets the blazing hot afternoon heat and it thrives!

Phlox pilosa gets about 12"-18" tall. The Carolina phlox gets to be about 3' tall.

John Fanick phlox is a nice variety that does well around here.

John Fannick phlox was named for the long-time nurseryman in San Antonio. He ran Fannick's nursery and specialized in native trees and roses. My family purchased many a tree and rose bush from Fannick's!

Oh my, that is beautiful. I may have to get lots of phlox. Hope it grows fast.

It is so nice to know there are still lots of flowers that can take this heat. Our trees have grown, so there is more shade, or filtered light on our property now......but just yesterday the African Daisy's started to droop. Yikes....I thought they would do great.

Thank you all.

I almost lost my Fannick phlox last year in the heat. It came back this year, but it's small. I'm thinking it needs more shade, more water, or both.

Morgan its time to start growing Hostas! You have the perfect condition. :)

I have been trying to grow Phlox too. I just ordered another with a big red ball. I am going to try growing it in the back and see what happens.

I might try some again.......I had one a few years ago but it croaked in the winter. Was pretty while it lasted. :-)

They always appear to croak in the winter, but they come back. just water. I have more people who kill Hostas thinking they are not coming back. The colder the winter, the better the Hosta! :)
