Planting in a Juniper Stump

Seems to me I've read somewhere not to plant in tree stumps. I have this lovely old hollow stump that I want to plant a vining plant in. It's juniper, VERY fragrant juniper. Think it's okay?

I don't have any experience but would not plant anything edible in a juniper.
If you want to experiment, you might try herbals or an ornamental plant first.
It is an attractive stump that begs being planted in.

I don't have any experience with planting in stumps either. But what a beauty! I would try putting a Bromeliad (or several) along with the vine. Since it's out of the ground, I don't see why it would be a problem to experiment a little. Again, I know nothing but I think it would be cool.

Thanks mccaine, I hope to get it planted over the weekend. Dunno about the bromeliads, they sound a bit picky for my tastes......don't want anything more that needs to be babied along.

Funny, but a brom was the first thing I thought of also but then not in your climate.
