Rare yellow Butea monosperma, Saraca indica, Beumontia grandiflora, Ixora longispicula, red Pseudobombax ellipticum. A few of the rare things i have blooming this spring.

Oh WOW, you have some special flowers there. Love the Butia monosperma and the Beaumontia grandiflora best but they are all beautiful.
The Butia is very spewcial. The usual color of the flowers is red, but there is the rare yellow form. It is amazing in person and I went through a hell of amount of work and money to get a feew of the yellow trees.

Popper, how old does the Beaumontia have to be to bloom? I've had two, in large, LARGE pots, for 4 years and they have yet to bloom.
I dont really now. My plant I've had a couple yrs and has bloomed every year. It is only anout 2.5' tall, in a 10 or 15 gal pot. Stem is about 1.5-2" at its base.
How old or where it came from I don't know. Could be an airlayer off an older plant. How big are yuors? Did you grow them from seed?

o my goodness. it must be very satisfying to see the rewards of your efforts all blooming at the same time. did you start any of these from seed? very very nice.
David, both were started from 6" cuttings about 4 years ago and are each about 15' long.

The are 15' long are arent? If they are that long I would certianly think they are large enough. Where do you have then? I see you are in 8b which would cause them to freeze back if they are outside. Mine is less then 3 feet long, about 1.5 or 2 inches in diameter at the base.

They are outside my greenhouse door, which faces west and they get a couple of hours of noon sun, then shade then more around 3 in the afternoon. They are each about 15' long - sorry for the typo!
Mine does get full sun & keep it on the dry side in the winter. Yours certainly sounds big enough. Does it drop all its leaves in the winter?
No, it doesn't drop its leaves because I bring it into the greenhouse in November.
No idea why it doesn't bloom. I'd give it a higher P fertilizer in feb after keeping it on the dry side for a couple months and start slowly watering more often when you fertilize it.

You may want to look at rjuddharrison garden journal. He has written a lot of his experiences with Beaumontia, you may find something there to help you. He has much more experience than I.
