I had planted a ton of seeds before I left for Uganda and did not record what I planted where and as I am ever so poor at identifying flowers I post here.
Help with this flower
Is that all from the same plant? I have no idea what it is, but it's pretty!!
I don't know what it is either, the plant looks like a succulent of some kind.
It's pretty.....so save their seeds!
Is it an ice plant? Latin name not handy in the brain! Starts with d........
Yes that is all the same plant and no it is not a succulent. It is a single spindly stem with one flower the size of a dime.
Its not Delosperma or any other ice plant, the flower is wrong for that. Is it native to TX?
I do not think so as I have search all the databases for native flowers and nothing looks similar. The closest thing I can find are the common aster flowers but since mine is one flower per plants this even separates them.
You might also try posting in the plant ID forum. Those folks are really good!
Let us know!
I will
Looks like an aster to me.
Actually it reminds me of a dahlia. I can't find it in any data base. I must be missing some of its characteristics.

I can say this about them as I have been watching them for the last few days. They only open when the sun is out and on them and close at night. Closed if it is raining or cloudy and only opening back up when the sun comes out for good. I have seen the same flower open and close now for 3 days and the stem is beginning to brown and harden up like a twig. The first flower is just a tad smaller than a dime and the second one is I little smaller than the first one.

It is a Pink everlasting Rhodanthe chlorocephala ssp rosea native to Australia but also exists in California.
And in Texas, evidently.
Nah I planted the seeds back in January just did not recall the name or have the seed pack. I now know where I got the seeds so if I want anymore I can get them if mine do not set.
Ice Plant?
