Back in September 2010 I first saw a "Sang" in Mendocino, CA that just blew my mind. I've been determined to have this clone since then. My first post about this tree on this forum was:

The tree grows on the property of Café Beaujolais in Mendocino. With permission, I obtained 8 cuttings in November 2011 and have successfully rooted 5 of of these. They were potted-up in January and have been growing out of doors since February. To my surprise all of them are producing mature buds and the first one bloomed a couple of days ago. It stands at 10 inches in height.

Mendocino Red "Sang": Rooted Cutting in Bloom
Very nice thanks for sharing
Wow, that .is soooo pretty bloom.
Thank you for sharing her beauty w0ith us.
Allan,
Congratulations on rooting those 5 cuttings. You have almost perfect growing conditions there in Alameda — almost as good as in San Francisco. I tried growing B. sanguinea in the foothills of San Jose, but the difference and heat was still too great. Here in Texas, a snowball has a greater chance of surviving. Thank you for sharing the photos. The color of the flower is much redder than the normal Sang.
