Ants climbing my fruit trees

Hi-

I am having an issue with a stone fruit tree (it's a 5-in-1). I sprayed with neem oil during its dormancy, but have a bit of peach leaf curl anyway. I also have ants climbing it -- I assume to harvest or eat something.

I went to the hardware store to get some tanglefoot, and discovered it can't be used on fruit bearing trees. Hrmph.

Any suggestions?

I don't understand why Tanglefoot can't be used on fruit trees- it is onl;y a sticky barrier-not something that touches any fruit.

I didn't know one could not use tanglefoot on fruit trees, so I looked it up:

Here's place that sells tanglefoot (I've not used this company) and it says:

Do not apply directly to young, thin-barked trees or to bearing fruit or nut trees

If it can't be applied "directly", you could attach a band of some material such as burlap or fabric to the trunk then coat it with the Tanglefoot.
