I have lots of mints, most are too young to divide yet. But I'm looking to add others. Some that I know I can divide are:
Blackberry Mint
Spice Mint
Silver Mint
Iced Hazlenut (small division)
Mystery Mint - lost tag and hope someone can reID it for me
Lemon Balm
Bronze Fennel (small babies, but hardy, and perennial for me in zone 7)
The top 3 mints and Lemon Balm will be nice sized divisions. Nothing will be just a tiny sprig.
In trade I'm looking for good sized divisions, not newly rooted cuttings or sprigs. It's already close to 90 degrees here and will soon be 100 so I need something mature to survive--at least a nice FULL 4" potful. (Doesn't have to be potted, but would completely fill the pot if it were. Most of my divisions will be more than this. The smallest division will be about a 4" potful)
If you're interested in trading with me, let me know what you have. I'm also interested in unusual oreganos as well. Common stuff I can get cheap locally, so I want something I'd have to mail order.
I might consider other perennial unusual herbs, so let me know what you have. I won't bother with trading just one plant. It's just more hassle than it's worth, so let's see if we can trade at least three plants.
I do have perennials as well, and we can discuss that too if you're interested.

CLOSED: Trade Unusual Mints for Other Unusual Mints, Herbs
Some of the mints I already have, just so you know, are:
Orange
Chocolate
Jim's Candy Lemon Lime
Brittany's Patty Mint
Lavender
Spearmint
Coco
Ginger
NONE of these are ready to divide yet.
I've had Apple mint and wasn't impressed with it. Kentucky Colonel and Peppermint I can get locally.
Would love to have Banana mint and Pineapple mint as well as others. For some reason, the pineapple mint always dies on me. But I usually get just a very small sprig. I need a good chunk of it, I think. Does it need shade or something? It's the most finicky mint I've ever had.
Did you ever get a mint trade going? I have both orange mint and chocolate mint that is out of control. I could give you a big chunk of each. Spice, blackberry or silver sound interesting. I have tons of lemon balm already.
I already have orange and chocolate mints. The post right above yours lists the other mints I already have.
Thanks though.
I keep meaning to get a list of my mints together for you but keep forgetting. I'll do it first thing this am as soon as it gets light enough.
Peggy
Hey Peggy,
Did you find any unusual mints in your garden? I'd love to trade with you.
None in the garden...in pots. I went out there yesterday to do inventory on them, forgot my clipboard, went back to house to get it and got off track onto something else....and that's the way all my days go....LOL
I'm also needing some perennials that tolerate part shade/part sun. I have beds on each side of my front door and they look awful. I've never found the right plants for this area. Below are pictures.
I'm interested in variegated or yellow hostas and other plants that will give this area a semi-formal/cottage garden appeal. So I'm open to suggestions.
I need well-rooted plants, no freshly made cuttings. The plants will have to be tough enough to survive once planted with little attention. And they need to be able to tolerate our hot dry summers. These areas by the door are a bit shady, and I mulch well, so they retain moisture better than other areas of my yard. I'm new to shady plants since my yard has been sun all these years.
I have a few perennials I can trade in addition to the mints, such as:
clerondendron bungeii - mexican hydrangea
physostegia - purple obedient plant
black moudry grass
blue LA iris
If interested, let me know.
Finally I inventoried my mints! Sorry,it's been crazy around here. Here's the list:
Mt.Mint/pycnanthemum virginianum
Oregano Thyme
Fruitsensations
Peppermint
Julia or Juilets"(can't read my own writing)Sweet Citrus
Spearmint
Kentucy Colonel
Basil Mint
Grapefruit
Sweet Pear
Wildberries...not much of tops showing, need to knock out of the pot to check roots
Majito(ditto as above)
Himilayan Silver
Hillary's Sweet Lemon
Apple
I know you said you had some of these or could get them localy so just ignore those
Hi Peggy,
I'd like some Oregano Thyme, Basil, and Grapefruit mints if you have some good divisions of them.
What would you like from me?
Not a whole lot going on top side yet but I'll knock them out of their pots and take a picture of roots tomorrow....if we don't get blowed away in storms moving in.If you find them acceptable,I'd trade for mints:Blackberry,Iced Hazelnut and Spice.
The Iced Hazelnut is already spoken for. I only had one start of it. It's new to me. Are you interested in any other?
Oh Shoot! I have the others. I lost my Iced Hazelnut(and banana :( . Let me know when you'll have some more of the Iced Hazelnut.
I made a mistake anyway. It's not Iced Hazelnut; it's Hazelnut Latte.
I think I'll just go ahead and order all the mints I want. I'm really hooked on them. I also want to learn to cook with them. The fragrances are just so divine!
