CLOSED: Wanted: Horsetail and white phlox
You want horsetail? That has got to be some other plant than what i'm thinking. Perhistoric plant a weed we all fight here in WA. Please post a picture.
That is what I want. It will be contained in a 3 gallon solid and the container sunk in the ground. Think that will contain it? I also know there are some smaller growing ones. Don't know which there are in WA
TY
DONT YOU MEAN CAT TAIL ???
I will have to see what comes up. We have been having cool temps so the growing season is a bit behind everyone else. I have the tall stuff and the little short. Its more a ground cover thing. I have been trying to kill that for years. I will go out to see if they are showing there heads. I also have some tall white phlox if that is what you want. Its a NOID.
Short ground phlox, TY.
Horsetail. I guess it must be so terrible no one would ever want it!!! I have the umbrella and really likr it. Don't think I want cattails...but maybe. Maybe I should consider bamboo instead?
Horsetails can have their place. I'll look around to see if there is any available around my area. I have a small one in a pot, but I do want a larger specimen because I like using them for arrangements.
I'm sure if you guys want this I can send. I have it growing all over my hillside in a wild area as well as in gardens.

Would this be better?
Thanks for your kind offer, Springcolor, but I only chimed in to say that I do have an appreciation for horsetails under certain conditions. I live close enough to natural sources of horsetail that I can go gather some if I have the urge for a bigger plant.

'Hot Papaya' is this still available? I have rooted but not planted corkscrew willows (not weeping willows). Are there any plants left at your old house? I never did get by there to see what you had left and you told me to go check but I didn't get around to it. You know me - sedums are a hit and a few other things you may have at the other house.
Kathy
I can let you have 1 'Hot Papaya' start you can have if I can remember to take it back when I go after the Ground Search and Rescue Conference The Conference starts the 12th In Appamattox and ends on the 15th. That afternoon I will be traveling to B'burg and stay there until the 22nd. I will be shopping w/ my DIL on the 21st until around 4 or so but home then. I will be going to Princeton 1 day to see my Dad. Have no plans other than those and can work around any other time you can come over. There are still extra plants there that you can have. Bring a trowel. Not sure how many are still there if any!

Debie can send you a large division of horse tail Walt D mail me
These? The ones in front, tall & straight, (not the dwarf papyrus, which I finally gave away). They're indestructible! Years ago I bought a tiny little plant at Lowe's for my tiny little pond/water garden and as it grew potted it up. Last year I divided that enormous plant into eight pots (black pots about 6" across, 7" tall, which is what these are in now). It took a saw to divide them, and a lot of hard work! I gave away 2 and still need to part with 3 more. (I just hate to throw away a plant, and I really need to get over that!) The tag said they were annuals, but they just don't give up. If we have a freeze I'll have to cut back some brown leaves, but they just keep growing. Dragonflies love to perch on them. I have failed miserably with dwarf cattails...twice...wonder if it just gets too hot for them here. Don't have space for the full-size ones that grow wild down here. (And I have no idea why this thumbnail seems to be sideways...it's right side up in my pictures folder.)
Deb,
Can you mail me a start of the hot papaya? I'll pay shipping and if you send it first class it will get here fast enough. If you can wrap it in a bubble wrap and put NO MACHINE processing and it weighs less than 13 ounces.
Let me know when you get to Bburg and I'll come over with tools and bags. Thanks Deb
Kathy
I am coming to B-burg next Sunday. I am going to the Virginia Search and Rescue Conference (VASAR) in Appomattox Th-Sunday and on to B'burg Sun afternoon. It is held at Holiday Lake. If I can remember to bring it with me, I will bring it in a small pot and it can set on the deck while I am at the conference and be taken care of.
