Clematis varieties available for trade.......

Litchfield, NH(Zone 5b)

Hi there,

I started 3 clematis from seed this spring - "Radar Love", "Alpine Blue" and "Mongolian Bells". I will have several of each available for trade later in the season (once they are large enough to ship). If anyone is interested in any of these varieties, please take a look at my "want list", and send me a Dmail. I'm interested in a bunch of different plants, so they don't necessarily have to be clematis.

Happy Spring!

Jennifer, I have some babies of Nelly Moser. I also have some cannas, red lycoris, spiderworts, crinums, and other mostly plants for sun.

Jen how did you germinate the seed?

Timeinabottle,

Sorry for the delay in answering....On the "Radar Love" and "Mongolian Bells" I sowed them in 'promix', topped with long milled spagnum moss, moistened it, bagged the containers and left them with my co-workers (sunny west-southwest window) while I went on vacation. I expected them to take 3-4 weeks, but when I got back in 10+ days a bunch of the Radar Love were already germinating. The Mongolian Bells started germinating @ 3 weeks, and continued for the next 2 weeks (so a bit erradic) I got 2/3 catch on seeds from Swallowtail Garden Seeds.

On the Blue Alpine Clematis, I stratified the seed in damp promix in the fridge for 3 weeks. Then potted up and set under grow lights at approx 70 degrees during the day, and cooler (60ish) at night. Germination began 17 days after sowing. They are said to be erradic, and can take 60-180 days to germinate, so I am potting the seedlings once they develp true leaves, but continuing to treat the tray as if they could germinate anytime. I'm pretty sure I got these seeds from Swallowtail too, but I don't have a final germination % yet. (though I have about 10 seedlings already)

Hope that helps.
