What to add to base of new statue

I have this small hill in the garden. I have been looking for something special to put there for many years.
Last summer I found this statue and I was able to purchase it recently and have it moved to my garden.
What do you think of the placement and what should I plant at the base of the statue. Thanks for any advice and suggestions. Norma Gene
