A little spring update on my pond project

Alba, TX(Zone 8a)

Last summer many of our trees started show signs of distress and our front tank (pond) had very little water left so we decided to enlarge and deepen the tank. So the tractors were lined up and the digging began. We actually hit some ground water at about the twelve - fifteen foot mark.

Yesterday, after all the rains we finally have a full pond. Can't even get the whole thing in one shot! The purple martins are liking it too! There's a shot of the most recent rain total. All that in about an eight hour period on Monday!

Thanks guys! We're hoping it stays a little more full if and when the next drought rolls in.

Beautiful!

I grew up on a dairy farm where we had several stock tanks that rarely went dry. As a kid I loved to walk the banks to observe all the plant life and creatures nature provides. I liked to fish for perch, bass and catfish too. It was most enjoyable sitting out on the porch in late evenings in summer watching all the birds and game come to drink. Gee, these are 60 year old memories.

Our objective is to get it stocked with fish. But first we need to seed the banks with grass to take care of errosion. And we want to fence the cattle out.

This is fantastic. And the rain came at just the right time.
