Since I haven't seen this thread for some time, I thought I would start a new one for this year.
Male Rufous (first hummer this year)
Western Hummingbirds 2012
Very nice! Thanks adel!
Congrats Adel and great photo. My first rufous arrived on the 21st and I didn't get a photo. Hopefully will get one today.
I still am feeding 4 Anna's, but I did see 1 more that I haven't yet identified as a juvie or a female rufous.
Here's a picture of my one friendly Anna's that loves the camera.

Those guys sure are mean. Congrats on the second hummer Adel.
Great pics. Adel and Duc.
Wow Duc, your Rufous is one handsome fella!
I and many others have Annas all Winter here in Ladysmith. Now the Rufous are back. First male showed up that I saw on the 25th. I heard them before that but didn't see any. Today two male Rufous were having quite the to do in the back garden. I have two feeders back there, but of course so far they are choosing to defend the whole garden to all comers. The front garden with two feeders seems to be hosting the Annas. But I did see a female and a male Anna at the back garden feeder too. The Annas are nesting. This is the second year that I put out and they have been taking my Poodles hair. I put the hair out in onion bags and in suet cages.
Sweet pics adel and duc!
Oh he is beautiful duc!!
He's so fine! Thanks Duc.
Those are gorgeous shots duc!
I'm with Pelle. Those are gorgeous shots duc.
Really nice ones duc! Love the raised feathers!
Stunning shots of all your little hummers, Adel and Duc. How many species of hummers, are you two seeing, during the Summer ?
I now know there is one Allen's Hummingbird here. One got trapped in our sun room, when I found it, it was laying on the floor not able to move. I moved it to a shady spot and watched it for about 20 minutes. It didn't seem to be getting any better, so I took it to the feeder on the front porch and kept dipping it's bill into the sugar water. After about 15 minutes it flew off.
Amazing shot with the water drops, and love the one where he's wiping his bill!
Adel, congrats on the success of hydrating that little hummer. I tried helping one out last year, but my effort failed.
burn.... .........I didn't notice your post of May 1 until now. Here we get 3 species.....Rufous...Allen's And Anna's........I never get a large number of hummers, but others a few miles from here get several.
This afternoon I decided to replace the old feeder at the front porch. It caused quite a stir, in just a few minutes there were 5 hummers competing for a spot at the new feeder. Looks like all Rufous or Allen's (thought I saw 1 Anna's, but didn't get a pic). I was surprised that the male Rufous that has been chasing evryone off the 2 old feeders didn't bother anyone at the new feeder.
Neat ones adel!
Glad to see the activity is picking up there Adel. Looks like they're enjoying your new feeder.
I just have one rufous female here with 8 anna's. Sure wish I'd get an allen's since I'm right on the border where they're found. I'll keep looking.
Here's a female anna's that was enjoying her morning bath and a male watching over a feeder.
Great shots duc! They sure are cute!
Love them in the fountain and the flowers too. The colors in the Anna is very lovely, Duc.
Adel, how I wish I could see one of those Rufous. Well, more actually, all of them hummers you guys get. :)
Duc, Those are gorgeous shots!
Fantastic shots, duc. Sweet little birds. That camera lens combo really sings for you. Your shots are soooo sharp.
OMG duc those are incredible shots!!!
