CLOSED: Trade plant for lace in sm. quant. for little girl comforter

Melfa, VA(Zone 8a)

My daughter is having her 2nd baby in May, another little girl. her first daughter is 4. With baby getting new baby "stuff" for her room, oldest is moving to a slightly bigger room. The 4 yo goes shopping to "help" get the new things. My hubby and I bought the crib comforter set. I started thinking, with the baby getting all new things, the oldest should really have a new cute comforter set. I have decided to make her one. The background color is purple. I am making butterflies (stuffed with batting/crocheted bodies/bead eyes) to go on it. The butterflies need lace trims to go around the edges of their wings. I found 1 yd of an eyelet that will work for one of the butterflies. I need 11. Anywhere from 1/2 to 1 1/2 yards. I think the largest two may take 2 yards. I would like ruffled lace, eyelet, in little girl colors to match the pic of the fabric below which I am using for the butterflies and the bed skirt. The little speckles in the fabric are shiny.
The closest thing we have here is Walmart for fabric if you can call that a place to get fabric/lace/trim etc. Otherwise, it is 1 1/2 hr drive.
If anyone has scraps of leftover trim that they can part with, I would trade plants, pay for postage or even pay for the pieces. Can anyone help?? I would buy from the internet, but the minimum amt of lace is usually 5 yds and I have nothing to use the leftovers on. AND it would rather expensive.

Did you ever find some lace? I found these but I'm pretty sure I have another boxful back out in storage.

BigRed...oh I would love to have those! So many colors! I drew out my design again and decided it would look better with a few more butterflies on it. Have the butterflies cut out and have made 3 with the lace I have been able to find around here.

So many things not here that I could easily find in Blacksburg at our old house. Recipes that have ingredients that I now am ordering over the internet (spices, sauces, etc.) that I could have gotten right down town there. Picture frames, curtain hanging accessories, horse feed at a reasonable price, little things that you never thought about having to drive so far for. There is no fabric store here. I don't mean just in town. I mean having to drive at least an hour for and farther. At least there is a great nursery 1/2 hr north! LOL!

My husband is going back this week to see what the neighbor/construction worker has gotten done so far (when he has time to do it after his job) to get the house ready to sell. Painting, etc. We are also making a list of things he needs to bring back from there!

I know what you mean. I live in a small town too and no place to buy fabrics, craft supplies, grains and spices so have to drive 30 minutes over to next town.

Let me see if I don't have some more laces out in storage. I'll keep a little bit for myself but send you the majority.

Well,my storage building is such a wreck,I can't find anything. I'll put together some laces from what was shown in picture and mail them Monday.

Did you get the laces you need?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I mailed out laces for you yesterday. I hope you can use them. I put some wide laces in too but I figure you could cut them in half and get twice the lace.

I added a few more butterflies to the pattern so a few more wouldn't hurt.

I have received two packages of laces and have already used a couple of them. TY oh so much to everyone! I am still sewing away!

Thanks to all of you that have helped me acquire the lace I need to finish up making the wing trims on the butterflies. I have made most of the butterflies and am about 1/2 finished basting and gathering the 40 yds of lace I bought to go around the edges of the comforter itself!!! Have to hustle!!! That baby is due May 15th and I want to have it done for her 4 yo sister when the baby comes home!! :)

Post us a picture once it's done.

I sure will!! LOL!!! I have even decided that since I am getting so much pleasure out of making it that I am going to make sets for my other two grandchildren!
I have finished most of the butterflies for the first one and have part of the comforter basted. 1/2 of the eyelet has been gathered and basted around the edges. I have been gathering the eyelet and basting as I go as it is easier for me to get the gathers equal.
A Hello Kitty comforter set for my 9yo granddaughter and a Star Wars for my 7 yo grandson. ( comforter, dust ruffle, and pillow sham). I am not planning lace for those and have already nearly finished purchasing the fabrics, batting I will need. I use blankets for the inside! Please understand that I don't do all of the intricate work that quilters do. I have never made a quilt like that but could probably learn to!! It's probably more like I don't want to! LOL! I use sheets for the bed skirt, top and bottom sides and then piece the other parts. I actually found a mint, NIP Star Wars printed sheet in great colors on Ebay. I guess I should draw sketches of what I have in mind for those!
This is a photo of my oldest 2 grandchildren. They are dressed in costumes from their mother's native country, Mongolia. I am so glad my 2nd son's family live in the US instead of so far away...all of the way around the world!! 7 hrs sometimes seems like nothing when you think of what it could be!!
