High Nitrogen Organic Fertilizer for Onions

What's a good high nitrogen (and low everything else) fertilizer for my onions. The growing guide recommends ammonium sulfate (21-0-0), but I'd rather use something else. Can I use blood meal?

stephanietx - blood meal is what I use - it's 12-0-0
