Gaura - wild? invasive? aggressive?

Brady, TX(Zone 8a)

I've got many patches of a plant that, when it last bloomed, I thought looked like gaura. It spreads by underground "runners" and is literally spreading everywhere. Last week I had to empty a small raised bed b/c of the "gaura" taking over; when I got down as deep as I could the plant base is actually kinda woody. Sound like gaura to anyone? Oh, and in some spots it actually grows under and around concrete blocks and up through probably 6" of cedar mulch. No pics; still need to relearn my camera and computer photo stuff...

That doesn't sound like the guara I have ever grown. Did you buy it?

Gaura is usually not that aggressive, here is a list of Gaura native to Texas and other states, see if you can find it there;

Noooo, that's why I wondered if there is a wild one.

Frostweed, I did check that site but don't remember anything I thought was definitive. Guess I'll wait for more blooms and for camera expertise!

Yes, that will probably help.
