NC Plant Swap Interest Thread

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Greetings Carolina Gardeners! :D

Any interest in organizing a swap? In Greensboro naturally (ha ha) because it's in the middle! Or maybe Raleigh.

I've been to a couple of round-up events and had great fun meeting people and sharing plants.

I'd think mid May would be a good time for something and allow enough time to get something together.

Hope to hear from you.

I might be interested. I don't have much this year. As my seeds got lost in our move (movers lost a box and it happened to be the one whith all my saved seed).
I do have some things in the greenhouse I would be willing to trade.

Hubby and I will be traveling to Mt. Airy the third weekend in May, so if it that weekend, I may be able to attend.

I've got a plant show Memorial Day weekend (Iris Festival here in Sumter) other than that I'd be interested...

May 18, 19, and/or 20.

This is the third weekend in May. If you plan it, they will come. :)

Would Saturday be the best day? That would be the 19th.

I could make a reservation at a city/public park shelter now to get a jump on the season. I would try choose one accessible to the major highways so there wouldn't be a lot of local driving.

How does that sound?

p.s. Don't have to be from the Carolinas to attend - I will post this thread in the RU forum as well.

I have never been to one of these. I way over planted so I have quite a few "leftover seedlings" mainly hot and sweet pepper plants, tomatoes, and herbs.

(shouldn't they be in the ground before mid May though?)

Vaughn - we have such a long growing season I think they'd still be viable. Bonnie Bell and Metrolina sell tomatoes in big box retail stores thru July/August!

It'll be fun! :D

I have never been to one of these either. Always seem to be too busy to do much traveling in spring. But my new daughter in law is getting interested in gardening now so maybe we could make it. I've been doing a lot of separating this spring and have LOTS to share. Iris, daylilies, daisies, galardia, rosemary, and maybe even some aporocactus and orchid cactus, if anyone is interested in that. How exactly does this kind of swap work? Do you make arrangements with members beforehand, or does everyone just bring what they have and take turns choosing from the combined 'pot'? Greensboro sounds great to me. I live straight south of there by Rockingham.

I've been to ONE.

Everyone is very generous and no one goes home empty handed. Bring what you have! Plants or seeds or even just for fun.

There's enough time between now and "then" to get stuff together for trade.

DG people are very nice and it's sure to be memorable! :)

I've started a plant trade and giveaway thread in the Roundup Forum.

Looks like we've got a lot of interest humming and I know I'll have way too many plants to use here in my wildflower garden.

Here is a link to the RU Plant Trade & Giveaway thread where we can post plants we have available:
